The Impact of Artificial Intelligence on Education in the United States

The rapid migration of generative artificial intelligence from speculative technology to a staple of the American classroom has outpaced the development of robust institutional frameworks. Between 2013 and 2023, the education sector witnessed a decade of accelerating innovation, yet the current saturation of large language models presents unprecedented challenges to traditional instructional models (Afzaal & Xiao, 2024). Schools across the United States now grapple with the tension between leveraging these tools for efficiency and preserving the cognitive rigor essential for deep learning. The core challenge lies in the dual nature of AI as both an equalizer and a disruptor of academic integrity.
