The deployment of Large Language Models and predictive analytics within university infrastructures often bypasses traditional risk management protocols, creating a mismatch between technological capability and institutional oversight. While academic departments debate the pedagogical implications of generative tools, central administrations are quietly integrating AI into high-stakes workflows like enrollment management, financial aid distribution, and human resources. This rapid adoption occurs without a standardized regulatory framework, leaving institutions vulnerable to legal and ethical liabilities. Algorithmic opacity remains a primary hurdle for university registrars and financial officers who must justify automated decisions to federal regulators. Current administrative structures often lack the technical expertise to audit black-box systems for latent bias or data privacy infractions. When a proprietary algorithm determines student eligibility for grants or flags applications for review, the institution assumes the risk of systemic discrimination.
